I have been teaching for 40 years now and have taught in primary and high school as well as at TAFE teaching French and German for the Higher School Certificate. I have also taught Preparation English at university.
If you are new to Spalding or if you just want it all done for you, this is your Kindergaren Spalding program for the whole year. It will save you around 160 hours of time putting it all together. It took me about 40 hours for each term. I have used Mary North's book of weekly things to learn and written it up into an easy to follow daily program. It is a fully editable document so that you can write in your own state/country outcomes, core numbers etc... or whatever you need to include accord

These posters match my flashcards of the sounds done the spalding way. Each poster has the grapheme and all the sounds that grapheme makes. These posters are nice and clear when downloaded. There are 82 of them in all. They do not come with the blue background as in the preview. You can set them on any coloured background you wish for variety. Some posters have 2 versions due to whether you wish to pronounce for modern English or the traditional Spalding way. I explain below the posters which
This is a set of flashcards using the grapheme and all its various sounds method. Note that the pictures on here are not very clear but the cards themselves are a very clear product. Each card has the grapheme and then pictures. The number of pictures remind children the number of sounds they must say. The sounds are in order of frequency which means that the most frequently used sound comes first. The cards are meant to be printed back to back. On the front, this is what the children see. You

Spalding Words IYou can use these in many different ways. I have them up as a wordwall in a line and children put their name pegs on whatever word they are up to. This is great for differentiation and children can work as fast as they wish to the best of their ability. This way you can individualise each child’s spelling list. I go through my weekly spelling using the words my lowest student is on but still moving my children on at 20 words per week. Those who know all their words or who have on

This is not just a fill in the worksheet unit. It requires students to think and do research. The work is differentiated in that students can complete their workbook according to their own level of understanding, vocabulary development, general knowledge and schema. This way, you can easily monitor and grow their vocabulary. Although I did prepare this for my Grade 2 class, it could easily be used for Grades 1 or 3 because of the students being able to write their own responses at their level.

Here you have a wonderful set of posters to display for the kids to learn sign language which I use as one of my rotations. This is not just a fill in the worksheet unit. It requires students to use geographical skills to complete the work. We are all time poor, right? The curriculum is so jammed packed, right? Well here I have combined Geography and grammar to complete a unit of work on "Proper Nouns." Students are required to think about their own situation, do research or complete Higher Order Thinking exercises using their knowledge of grammar. The work is differentiated in that students can complete their workbo
It is important to recognise both lowercase and uppercase letters in different fonts. This is a super fun activity with a bonus of being a finger strengthening activity for firm pencil grip. I put up the coloured version on the interactive board and I give a black and white version to my littlies. They then get a one hole hole punch and off they go. This can also be a fun assessment activity for you to monitor letter recognition as well. Children have to punch the appropriate letter and say
