This Flyer was developed for Parents of Elementary School students (K-6), to give them some guidance and ideas on how to help build a healthy math culture at home. Far too often, parents have had a negative experience with mathematics and this can color how they view the subject. Hopefully this flyer will provide some ideas for them on how to help their students. The benchmarks on the back are based on the CCSS fluencies by grade level.

BINGO! A fun and non-threatening way to increase fluency with multiplication facts. This activity can be a complete 50 minute lesson plan (included) or just a 15 minute activity to practice facts. It is great fun and I have had success playing with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. I have developed 5 sets of 30 (150) unique game boards. The game can be played with two standard six dice, two number cubes labeled from 0 to 5 or two number cubes labeled from 5 to 10, or any online random number generator.

Teaching style

I am a passionate life-long learner and educator that believes the future is dependent on the education of our children. I believe that students learn best while happy. I love numbers, understanding data, and the beauty of mathematics. One of my great joys is to witness a student falling in love with numbers as well. I am drawn to technology. I am particularly interested in how technology can be used to bring communities together, build relationships, and engage students in active learning. My research interests have surrounded Educational Technology and issues that are relevant to my school community. I consider myself an active researcher, and want my research to have a direct impact on the quality of education in my community.

Additional biographical information

I love spending time outside with my family. Hiking, kayaking, surfing, cycling and running fill my bucket. I have just embraced horseback riding and playing the guitar as part of ranch life. I am an avid reader, and if I am not getting lost on a hike, you might find me lost in a book.
