Scientific Notation Worksheet with Word Problems
This worksheet is appropriate for grades 7-8 and is a great way to help your students practice scientific notation. I have used it for in-class work, and as homework. It expects student's to know the rules of exponents though for certain problems.

Newsela Article Writing Worksheet
This sheet was designed to be used with newsela.com material. I have students read an article, then answer the questions on the worksheet. It is useful for encouraging students to read an article analytically. I also have students list new words that they don't know, so that later I can make sure to review these words.
Including reading time (which can vary) I estimate most my students spend about 30 minutes on this worksheet.
