Thanksgiving Math PBL
Real world Problems combined with Problem Based Learning are what my classroom activities are built on! This PBL allows students to plan their own Thanksgiving dinner. Students will determine their guest list and budget, plan their menu, create their shopping list with quantities, check the prices at their local store (circular provided), and find the total of their shopping cart! Weekly Review
A frequent update is helpful for students to bring home to their families. I use this Weekly Review to send home every Friday. Students fill out a reflection section, parents are kept up to date on what is happening in the classroom, and there is a place for important dates to remember. I also love the responsibility checklist to help students show accountability throughout the week and work towards their checks. I pride myself on creating a classroom community that promotes differences, varying levels of ability, and growth mindset. I strive to create a culturally response classroom where students accept themselves and one another as family. I believe there should be a balance between social/emotional needs and academic needs.
