Teaching style

My teaching style is collaborative, creative, and brain-based! I believe young learners thrive when they're engaged in meaningful conversations, hands-on activities, and surrounded by a classroom community that supports each other. Whether we’re tapping out sounds, building number sense, or exploring social studies through stories—learning in my classroom is active, joyful, and connected. 💡🌈 I follow the Science of Reading for literacy instruction, incorporate structured math routines, and use student voice and choice to create a classroom where everyone feels seen, heard, and excited to learn!

My own education history

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where I graduated with a strong foundation in education and endorsements in History and Social Sciences, Special Education, and PreK–6 General Education. These diverse endorsements reflect my passion for supporting all learners and creating meaningful, cross-curricular connections in the classroom. I later continued my professional journey by earning a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, which deepened my understanding of instructional design and best practices for student-centered learning. My educational background has given me the tools to create engaging, inclusive, and research-based learning experiences that meet the needs of every child.

Additional biographical information

I grew up in a small town with a big heart and an even bigger love for learning. After earning my undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, with endorsements in History and Social Sciences, Special Education, and PreK–6, I went on to complete my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me traveling to new places, reading a great book, or diving into the latest research on education and literacy trends. I’m passionate about helping students grow through engaging, evidence-based instruction—and I love sharing that journey with other educators!
