Student Exploration / Discovery -- Rules of Exponents

Students have the chance to feel super smart when they are able to come to their own conclusion about math rules!! In this recommended paired activity, students explore by using the calculator and deductive reasoning what the rules of exponents are. THEY come up with the rules and THEY come to their own conclusion! My experience is that students have a lot of fun with this and feel really accomplished when they figure it out!

Guided Notes - Solving Systems of Equations by Graphing

This guided notes takes students through what a system means, and what a solution is for a system of equation. They are given plenty of examples for copy-me-teach and are able to do independent work, as well. This guided notes also encourages the student to check the solution with algebra.

Graphic Organizer - Showing Function in Multiple Forms

This graphic organizer illustrates that a function can be represented graphically, as a word problem, as an equation, and table. My experience is that this is very helpful for students to make a connection between each of these forms to truly understand what a function is and what it can represent! I recommend using this as an exploration activity for students to come to their own conclusions--can work in pairs!
