Poetry is a subject that can be easily embedded in any subject. This sample in particular uses Soil as the poetry topic. Students studying soil layers are to describe through poetry how to go layer by layer through the soil while detailing what they might see along the way...bugs, worms, rocks, etc. Very creative way to integrate a little poetry into your science unit! You can also adapt this lesson to work with the Earth's core, plants, or anything you can come up with!
