I started out as a 4th grade science and social studies teacher and a 1st grade self-contained teacher. Finally, I landed right where I was supposed to be! I have had the opportunity to work with students K-8 in both resource and self-contained Special Education settings. I am about to embark on my 7th year of teaching. I currently teach students in grade 6-8 who participate in the Extended Content Standards and I LOVE IT!

Teaching style
Organized mass chaos is a fair description of my classroom. We roll with the punches like pros. Structure is key, but at the end of the day life doesn't always work out exactly as we plan. I try to incorporate teachable moments and opportunities to explore what my students find interesting whenever we can make it relevant!
My own education history
I attended Appalachian State University and earned my degree in K-6 general education. After my first two years, I was able to complete state requirements to shift into Special Education, and I wouldn't change a thing!
Additional biographical information
Ways my students would happily describe me:
-Crazy Cat Lady
-A Giraffe (because I'm 6 feet tall and proud)
-Coffee Fanatic
-Silly (whenever possible)
-Giant Nerd
