This is a fun smartboard activity that the kids enjoyed doing. I have written a paragraph with five sentences. It contains a topic sentence, three detail sentences, and a concluding sentence. The student has to go to the board and click on the sentences and arrange them in order correctly. This helps with paragraph structure and chronological order. I used it while I was teaching paragraphs. I have four other different paragraphs for this same activity available.

I have created four worksheets/charts that have different figurative language terms on them. I either give the students poems or picture books and they must find the sentence that contains that particular figurative language in the poem or picture book and write it down on the correct blank in the chart/worksheet. This is a fun lesson that allows students to actually watch tv in class. They write a paragraph after watching a television episode. I used an "I Love Lucy" episode since she is my favorite. It worked out really well and the students seem to have fun and do well with it. It teaches paragraph structure, summarizing, and sequence of events. Along with the detailed lesson plan, I included a peer review question sheet and two example paragraphs. It could also be done with an essay.
I used the movie Savannah Smiles to teach literary terms, plot, and prior knowledge. The kids really love this movie and enjoy this lesson. I have included the test, discussion questions, and prior knowledge with this lesson.
