Teaching style

My classroom runs on discussion, debate, and real-world relevance. Every student speaks—every day. I use structured academic conversations, scaffolded inquiry, and collaborative activities to build not just content mastery, but critical thinking, argumentation, and civic identity. My resources are built to be both rigorous and ready-to-use, with clear supports for differentiation—including sentence frames, visual scaffolds, and accessible tasks designed to support English learners and students with special needs. Engagement and equity are at the heart of everything I create.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Some of my proudest moments come not from formal awards, but from watching students find their voice. Whether it’s presenting at a local board meeting, leading a civic action project, or scoring big on the AP exam, seeing students own their learning is the real win. I’ve also been recognized at both the site and county level for instructional innovation, scaffolded curriculum design, and fostering academic conversations that elevate student thinking and engagement.

My own education history

I’m a proud first-generation college graduate with a B.A. in History and a Master’s in Teaching and Learning. My journey through education shapes the way I teach—grounded in the belief that every student deserves access to rigorous, meaningful learning. I’ve continued my professional growth through training in scaffolded instruction, academic conversations, ELD strategies, civic discourse, and tech integration—thanks to organizations like the College Board, AVID, Project GLAD, and the San Diego County Office of Education.

Additional biographical information

I’m also a parent, a lifelong learner, and a firm believer that classrooms should be launchpads for leadership. Outside of teaching, you’ll find me exploring National Parks with my family, digging into historical and current events podcasts, or reading up on the latest education research (with coffee in hand, of course).
