About the store
During my 34 year career as an English teacher, I have taught in primary and secondary state, private and international schools. Additionally, I have been SEN English teacher, a teacher of EAL, and a provider of teaching workshops and resources for teachers of English. I have a wide knowledge of and great interest in the theory and practice of education because I believe in being constantly curious about the craft of teaching. I have a particular interest in mind mapping, accelerated learning, multiple intelligences and critical/ creative thinking – and have also created resources showing the application of these concepts to the teaching of English writing, grammar, literature and spelling.I am presently creating resources for IB English B students and teachers.

Teaching style

The environment I provide for students is bright, cheerful and encouraging. I focus on the individual as I teach and use a considerable variety of methods to enable students to learn from each other through group work and discussion. Additionally, I employ strategies to develop critical, creative and independent thinking skills. My knowledge of action research, formative assessment and extensive experience in curriculum development allows me to explore ways in which students learn. This has led to my creating a successful licensed learning-to-learn system which has helped raise student levels of esteem, confidence and learning ability in schools across the UK.
