Use hundred charts with coins to help students visualize patterns in coin counting to one dollar. Included:Separate hundred charts containing nickels, dimes and quarters. One hundred chart containing all denominations (including pennies for those kiddos who are still comfortable counting by ones). One blank hundred chart for you to customize. Community Helper (police) themed letter matching game for one to three players. One player: Flip over a letter card. Cover the matching letter on the game board with a counter until all of the letters are covered. Two or three players: Players flip a letter card then cover the matching letter on the game board with a counter in their own colour. Once all of the letters are covered the player who has covered the most, wins.

In this differentiated math/art activity, students combine math and art to create a landscape using perimeters of various sizes. On grid paper students draw and colour various parts of the landscape using only the given perimeters. Open questioning allows students to create figures in many different ways and shapes, to the best of their ability, and allows these landscapes to be quite different from each other when done.
