Experience
I have been teaching science for 29 years. I love sharing science content with others and I also love developing the resources to do it.
Teaching style
My name says it - cooperative. I try to design instruction so that every student's contribution is required. I also view myself as a lab instructor - not that I just teach labs; I teach my content using labs. We do at least one lab activity per day (I am on a 90 minute block schedule) but even more than 20 years ago when I had 50 minute periods we still did a lab almost every day (except for test day). My happiest moments at work are when I walk around the room and see my students engaged in an activity and working together to solve a problem.
Awards & shining teacher moments
Over the years I have been blessed to have received a Milken Educator Award, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, and a State Teacher of the Year award.
My own education history
I have a bachelors and masters in science education, National Board certification in Adolescence and Young Adulthood Science, and an Ed. D. in teacher leadership.
