Experience

With decades of diverse professional experience, I bring a unique blend of expertise in business, education, and community engagement to Teachers Pay Teachers. My background includes roles as a teacher, DECA advisor, real estate professional, and event coordinator, with skills in curriculum development, educational technology, and strategic planning. I’m passionate about blending career and technical education (CTE) with core academic skills to create engaging, practical resources that help students bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. My aim is to provide teachers with tools that inspire and empower students to connect their academic knowledge with future career pathways.

Teaching style

My teaching philosophy is built on respect, empathy, and open-mindedness. I believe in creating a classroom environment where every student feels valued and heard, knowing that each child in front of me brings a unique set of experiences, strengths, and perspectives. I make it a priority to listen to my students, to understand their viewpoints, and to approach each interaction without judgment. Recognizing that I am the adult in the room, I strive to be a supportive guide who nurtures their potential and celebrates their individuality. My goal is to empower students to grow academically and personally in a space where they feel respected and safe.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My proudest moments as a teacher come when I see my students fully engaged and enthusiastic about learning. I am deeply committed to fostering a positive classroom environment where students feel empowered to explore new ideas and take ownership of their education. One of my standout achievements was guiding 11 DECA students to success at the state level, even amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was also honored with awards such as the Northwood’s Association of Realtors Distinguished Affiliate Service Award and the Government Finance Officers’ Award of Excellence in Public Finance, which highlight my dedication to excellence and community engagement. For me, these accolades reinforce the importance of creating impactful learning experiences and connecting classroom knowledge to real-world applications.

My own education history

I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Career and Technical Education with an emphasis in Marketing, which I am on track to complete by Spring 2025. This advanced program has allowed me to deepen my understanding of educational strategies and marketing principles, enhancing my ability to create impactful, real-world learning experiences for students. My academic journey has been driven by a commitment to blending career and technical skills with core academics, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their future careers.

Additional biographical information

I live in South Mississippi, where I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and our two wonderful daughters. Family means everything to me, and while Mississippi is home, I also hold a special place in my heart for my family in Wisconsin, they are an integral part of my life, and I cherish every opportunity to stay connected with them. Balancing family life with my career in education keeps me grounded and motivated to make a difference in the lives of my students.
