Experience

I've been a special education teacher for over 16 years. I've taught every grade in elementary school, have some experience in middle school and some experience in early childhood. I feel like my "Bread and Butter" is behavioral and social/emotional education for kids who need a little extra help. It makes me excited to go to work every day.

Teaching style

I've always tried to teach following Ross Greene's philosophy that "kids do well if they can" as opposed to "kids do well if they want to." I love the challenge of kids who struggle behaviorally and emotionally and am motivated to help them realize the skills they need to do the best they can in school. Building meaningful relationships with kids is the most important part of what I do.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I've never won any professional honors or awards and I'm not really that special. However, I feel that it's an honor to be a teacher and it's a profession that in today's world isn't always seen that way. Awards are nice, but being a special person to special kids is pretty rewarding.
