Tiny Science Fair Project - Applying the Scientific Method

Looking for ways to spice up teaching the scientific method? Want to host a science fair but without all the work of wrangling large boards for presentations? This project combines both solutions in the Tiny Science Fair! Through this project, students will apply the scientific method to answer a question of interest and will present their findings to the class in a science fair style setting - but instead of creating a large tri-fold display, students will demonstrate their findings on a folded

Ionic and Covalent Nomenclature Flashcards

Flashcards that assess student knowledge of ionic and covalent nomenclature rules. I use these flashcards to quiz students as they enter the room, but they could also be used as study materials or periodic checks for understanding during class time. Some compounds include polyatomic ions. The flashcards are meant to be printed front and back, flipped on the long edge. You can laminate them to make them last longer as well! My own education history

I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2012 with a degree in English Literature and a minor in psychology. However, I soon fell in love with science and obtained my full teaching licenses in Earth Science and Chemistry in 2015. I then went on to earn a Master's degree in school counseling from Morehead State University in 2020, and added Physics to my license in 2023.

Additional biographical information

When I am not teaching, I'm coaching the school's FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics team or attending student sporting events. Or, you can find me at home as I read, knit, and crochet while spending time with my husband Matthew and our two cats. I also love to travel and discover new places, foods, and friends.
