About the store
Teaching 3rd-grade math for the past five years has been an incredible journey filled with challenges, growth, and rewarding moments. At my school, a diverse and supportive community, every day brings opportunities to help students build confidence in their math skills while fostering a love for learning. One of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching is seeing the "aha" moments when a student finally grasps a challenging concept. There’s a strong emphasis on meeting students where they are and helping them achieve success, not just academically but also socially and emotionally. Building relationships is just as important as teaching content. Creating a classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to take risks is essential. For me, teaching is more than just a job—it’s a responsibility that I take to heart. I care for my students as if they were my own children. Their successes fill me with pride, their struggles weigh on me, and I will always advocate for what’s best for them. I want them to know they are loved, supported, and capable of achieving great things. There are certainly challenges—meeting diverse needs, keeping students engaged, and adapting to curriculum changes—but the rewards far outweigh them. Seeing students develop not just math skills but also problem-solving abilities, perseverance, and confidence is what makes this work so meaningful.

Teaching 3rd-grade math for the past five years has been an incredible journey filled with challenges, growth, and rewarding moments. At my school, a diverse and supportive community, every day brings opportunities to help students build confidence in their math skills while fostering a love for learning. Teaching style

My teaching style is hands-on, active, and engaging. I believe that learning should be an interactive experience where students feel excited and motivated to participate. I incorporate movement, manipulatives, and real-world problem-solving to help students grasp mathematical concepts in a meaningful way. Gamifying lessons is one of my favorite strategies to make learning fun and effective. Whether it’s through math-based challenges, interactive digital games, or team competitions, I love creating an environment where students see math as an adventure rather than a chore. Games help build confidence, encourage teamwork, and provide opportunities for students to develop problem-solving skills in a low-pressure setting. I also emphasize active learning, where students are not just listening but fully engaged in discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative problem-solving. By making math feel like a game and connecting it to real-life experiences, I strive to build a classroom where every student feels capable, supported, and excited to learn.

My own education history

I earned my bachelor's degree at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) in Elementary Education, which provided me with the essential knowledge and skills to create engaging and effective learning experiences for young students. Building on that, I pursued my master's degree in the Teacher as a Leader program at NKU, which deepened my understanding of instructional leadership and curriculum development.

Additional biographical information

Beyond the classroom, I’ve been married to my best friend since 2017. Like our 9-year-old son, he’s a big sports enthusiast, and together with our energetic 3-year-old, we are an active family that loves spending time outdoors. Whether it’s playing sports, exploring nature, or just enjoying family adventures, we thrive on movement and fun—values I bring into my teaching and resource creation.
