This is a walkabout for 6th grade students to review angles and triangles. This activity focuses on the interior sum theorem (missing angle), writing one-step equations to calculate the missing angle, triangle inequality theorem (determining whether 3 side lengths will make a triangle), and some review questions of other angle concepts. During the walkabout, students will be solving a Harry Potter themed math mystery in which one Hogwarts student stole the answer key to an exam from Professor Mc
Using a Steak and Shake menu, students search for items and their prices. Using these prices, the students answer questions about total cost, tax, and receiving change. In the final activity, the students answer 2 questions about the importance of lining up the decimal point when adding and subtracting decimal numbers.
This foldable is intended to help students learn the key words that will help them start to write and decipher algebraic expressions. Two versions of the inside of the foldable are available - the first (page 2) is blank for students to write their own keywords in each section. The second (page 3) is filled out for the students - can be used as a completed copy of class notes, etc. The middle of the foldable provides practice opportunities for students to begin using the keywords from the notes.
This activity can be used as task cards OR a walkabout - I have included student answer sheets for both. The sets of data in this activity do not exceed 7 numbers, so students should be able to complete all questions without a calculator in a reasonable amount of time.
This foldable is intended for student notes/interactive journal. This provides a visual for students to remember that they can use a factor "tree" to find the prime factorization of a number. I included an example of how I would use this resource - I put "fruit" on the outside of the tree with some of the most common prime numbers (2, 3, 5, 7...) that students will see and a "rotten fruit" on the ground with the number 1 inside because it is not a prime number, thought students may be tempted to
