This resource is great to utilize before and after a 2nd or 3rd grade fractions unit. It includes a pre-assessment that focuses on determining if shapes have equal parts, dividing shapes into equal parts, and comparing fractions. The post-assessment is a little more lengthy, but includes the same content. These could also be used as worksheets/learning activities. Answer keys are included.

This Cake Fractions worksheet is a fun activity for students to understand parts of a whole with a creative twist. Students will use their artistic ability to "decorate" a cake with various toppings (ex. 2/8 of the cake is decorated in chocolate chips). This download includes two worksheets- an 8 piece cake and a 16 piece cake. The directions are different for each cake. It also includes two different sets of directions for each worksheet. These could be laminated and saved for future use.
