I use these worksheets with the book, A Letter From Your Teacher: On the First Day of School by Shannon Olsen. The book is available on Amazon but there are also video versions on YouTube. The story is a letter from a teacher written to her students on the first day of school. After reading the book, I ask the students to write to me. The three pages allow you to decide how much you wish for your children to write allowing you to decide based on their age and ability.

At Back to School Night, leave a copy for parents to write a special note to their child to find in the morning. My students are always excited to find a special message from their parents or guardians.

Help your students practice the distributive property for the 6 and 12 facts. Children are directed to use 5 and 1 to break apart 6 and to use 10 and 2 to break apart 12. These editable slides are a good way to review the multiples up to 10 in the two through ten times tables. Display the slide at the beginning of your math class for a quick daily review. Repetitive practice will help your children succeed in knowing their multiplication facts. You can also print and display these slides. The multiples are listed with colored background to print as is and also can be printed on colored paper if you choose.

This little rhyme is a great reminder for students to write their names on their worksheets or tests. I also have the students write the date and their class number on the page to help me quickly identify any missing papers.
