Creating Curious Students

Students will cut out strips. On each strip is either an opinion or a reason. Students will need to read the sentences and decide if the sentences are opinions or reasons to support an opinion. Students will then need to match the opinions with the reasons that support the opinion. Students can do this collaboratively or as an assessment.

This is a modeled and guided narrative writing about a snowman.Students will learn how to write a narrative with a clear beginning, middle and end. The story includes opportunities for students to use figurative language, dialogue and precise vocabulary. Directions, a student sample, and a student copy is provided.

Students will use a real context to practice their multiplication and division skills. Students will determine the number of ornaments purchased, how many ornaments each student gets to hang, how much money in gift cards received and the total cost of class party. There are 4 contextual questions with space for students to show their thinking and strategies. Students can work in collaborative groups to answer the questions. Students can model their thinking using manipulatives and/or drawings.
