Created by an art educator with over 25 years of teaching experience—from early childhood through college—these resources are designed to be flexible, open-ended, and easy to use in a wide range of learning environments. Lessons focus on exploration rather than perfection, helping students think visually and draw with confidence. They work well for classrooms, homeschool settings, early finishers, independent art time, and introductory studio courses.

Teaching style

My teaching style emphasizes process over product, with a focus on helping students explore ideas through drawing rather than aiming for a single “correct” outcome—particularly for younger learners. As students advance, especially at the college level, execution and refinement become increasingly important, and lessons are structured to support both conceptual thinking and technical development. Across all levels, lessons are designed to be open-ended, encouraging experimentation, imagination, and intentional decision-making. I value visual thinking, creativity, and student voice, and I strive to create learning experiences that are supportive, flexible, and engaging for a wide range of abilities.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award at Otis College of Art and Design in 2024. I am also a published art educator in both the United States and Japan. My work has been featured in SchoolArts Magazine (2020) for Habitat Umbrellas, a project I created for displaced expatriate students attending international schools in Japan. The project focused on identity, place, and creative expression through visual thinking. Some of my most meaningful teaching moments come from watching students gain confidence in their creative abilities—especially those who may initially feel unsure about art. Seeing students take risks, develop their own ideas, and express themselves visually has been the most rewarding part of my teaching practice. I strive to create environments where students feel encouraged to explore, make mistakes, and grow.

My own education history

My background includes formal training in art and education from Otis College of Art and Design, along with continued professional development focused on drawing, visual thinking, and creative instruction. This educational foundation supports both my artistic practice and my teaching pedagogy, allowing me to design lessons that are developmentally appropriate while remaining concept-driven, thoughtful, and engaging.

Additional biographical information

In addition to teaching, I enjoy developing creative resources that support both educators and students. The materials in this store reflect my belief that art education should be accessible, thoughtful, and adaptable. All resources are designed to be no-prep, flexible, and easy to integrate into a variety of classroom settings, while encouraging creativity, imagination, and confidence through open-ended exploration.
