I have been teaching for over 20 years. I started out in 2nd grade, moved to 5th, 4th and now I have been in 3rd grade for over 13 years. I have been lucky to work with many different teacher who have been in different places in their careers. I have learned so much from each and every one of them. During my career I have co-taught with 5 different special education teachers. I love when other teachers work in my classroom. It opens my eyes up to new/different strategies/styles.

Book Project Fun
Are you looking for structured book projects for your students? I give out 4 book projects a year. They have 2 parts. One part is an oral report/book talk and the 2nd part is a written project. Everything is included, but you can use individually as well.
Included are the directions for the overall directions, rubrics for grading, a contract for parents and students, 4 different book projects, rough draft papers for each project and one final copy paper. Most final copies are done on constru

Make a Book Bag
One way I encourge students to love reading and take care of books is by making individual book bags.
I purchase the small cloth bags from Oriental Trading Company. They are large enough to fit a few chapter books at one time. You can even fit small picture books in the book bag. They have handles and come in different colors.
Early in the school year we talk about how special books are and how we need to take care of them. To do that we will make book bags to use for the year and to keep

My own education history
I have my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College (a teaching college in Buffalo, NY). I have my masters in reading k-12 from there as well.
