About the store
I initially began teaching as a high school teacher of 11th and 12th graders. After about three years of that, I realized that though I loved the subject matter, that age of students was not for me. I never in a million years thought I would be an elementary school teacher, until I began tutoring part-time in an elementary school close to home, and I was hooked. I know it sounds crazy, but I love my 9-11-year-olds! I truly have a passion for helping nurture and develop these children into responsible children who will grow into responsible contributors to society.

Folktales Flippable
This foldable is one I use with my students as we are going over the fiction genre of folktales. It is an interactive way to have the students record the definitions, as well as identify examples of the various folktales we read in class while discussing the story elements. I have the students paste this into their Reading Journals.

Word Problem Solution Pie Charts
This is a great resource for students who have trouble visualizing word problems and their solutions. If a student is having trouble pinpointing the action in a word problem, helping the student break the word problem down into the major actions in a text can help. Can be used as an intervention for older students or for younger students in teaching an introduction to problem solving, and the small directions can be given to each student to put in their math journal as a student guide. Figurative Language Posters
These posters feature the words metaphor, simile, idioms, hyperbole, and personification. They are the most common figurative language examples that most upper elementary students will need to recognize to understand the poetry to which they will be exposed through common core. It is tremendously helpful to have these words posted on your word wall to aid your students’ understanding of these words.

My own education history
I matriculated through Bennett College as a Bennett Scholar, and received my Bachelor's degree in English. Then I attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Master's degree in English Literature. After realizing college professorship was not for me, I received my education license through the PAL Program at Greensboro College to teach high school.
Additional biographical information
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Bennett College in English, and my Master’s Degree from UNC-Greensboro in English Literature. During my matriculation, I taught GRE Preparatory as a volunteer for Evangel Felowship Church's Positive Direction for Youth and Family (PDY&F) organization, that provides activities for the youth and families in the community. I earned my teacher licensure from Greensboro College. I have taught high school and have worked in elementary school as a certified tutor and school teacher. I have taught my students that working hard and not being afraid of failure are the keys to their success in any area they pursue.
