About the store

Experience

I have been teaching high school English, Journalism, and Yearbook since 2015. Before that I was a journalist for two different newspapers, I also worked in a library.

Teaching style

I have a mixture of traditional and modern teaching styles. My mentors taught me the traditional style and modernism comes from my degree, interests, and hobbies. I have a tough classroom where expectations are high and students are pushed every day to challenge themselves and what they think they can do. I enjoy giving total control of creative projects to the students to see just how far their imagination can take them while tying in the content.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Every yearbook I have published so far has won an award from cover art, content, and theme.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism with minors in history, applied writing, and digital media technology. I am licensed to teach English in Florida 9-12 and Ohio 7-12. I also have a Masters in Gifted Education.

Additional biographical information

I am an adventure seeker, I enjoy kayaking, hiking, traveling and visiting historic locations. I have a cockapoo named Penny and she gets to go with me on a lot of my adventures. I am a very creative person; I am a photographer, painter, and I refurbish old furniture.
