Experience

I am an ESOL endorsed, elementary teacher with over a decade of teaching experience and a plethora of art skills that I enjoy using to enrich my students' classroom experiences. Teaching style

I am trained in AVID and Restorative Teaching practices and also incorporate GLAD and whole brain teaching strategies into my instruction. It is my belief that any strategy that benefits my ESL students will also benefit whole group learning. Moreover, I believe it is essential for students to know "why" they are learning a skill and not just "how" to do the skill. This fosters an atmosphere of curiosity and ownership of their education. It is essential that we teach with a growth mindset, encouraging our students to see their education as something they are continuing to improve upon. They may not know something yet, but they will make progress if they continue to work hard. It is our job to help them be focused and engaged learners.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My own education history

I attended Western Oregon University for their education program and graduated Magna Cum Laude with my endorsement in ESOL.

Additional biographical information

I grew up on the Oregon coast and absolutely love everything nature and art. In 2014, I moved across the state and taught in a culturally diverse and high poverty community with the most amazing kids! However, I missed my family and the ocean a little too much, so I moved back to teach on the coast. Recently, I relocated to be a little closer to family and am now happily residing in beautiful Southern Oregon. I love to learn and love sharing my gift of art with others. I have several hobbies which include playing the piano, fine arts, rock collecting and polishing, exploring nature, and working on my children's book which I hope to finish and publish some day.
