Get your baggies ready! Fill 8 zip-loc bags with two items, each weighing different amounts. Label baggies 1-8. Students will grab a baggie, take out the two items in the bag and decide which one is heavier and which one is lighter. They will draw (or write) about the items on the response sheet. Remember, bigger does not always mean heavier. Choose objects that students will have to hold to really decide. Sample items: stapler, balls, blocks, feathers, markers, toy cars, books.

About the store

Experience

I have taught for 15 years in early childhood education. I received National Board in 2005 and my Masters in Technology in 2007.

Teaching style

I currently teach in an IB school where inquiry, integration, differentation, and higher level of Blooms are required. I incorporate reading goups/literacy centers in my classroom. Math is taught through an inquiry/problematic scenario technique.
