I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. I had a chalkboard and would take home extra papers from school so I could teach my younger brother and cousin. I had an amazing assortment of books too and I would put pieces of paper inside the back cover and sign them out to lend to my family and friends. It was a life long dream of mine to become a teacher. I taught in the classroom for about 15 years in grades 2, 4 and 5. After, I worked as a library media specialist in grades K-5 for four years, then middle school grades 6-8 for four years, and I am currently working in an elementary setting teaching library and technology to grades 2-5. I absolutely LOVE my job!

I am all about consistency as a teacher. I find that it avoids confusion and students work well having a routine. With that being said, I am all about creating a calm, soothing environment for my students to come to. I have forest tapestries on my walls, string lights hanging all around, tapestries of the stars in the sky on my ceiling and I play instrumental music videos with beautiful images on my Promethean board while I'm not using it to teach. I have puzzle tables set up, comfortable seating as well as stuffed animals for students to use as reading buddies. I have been told that I have the most Zen room! My students love to come to the library and I can see the stress fall off their shoulders when they use and enjoy the space.

I am a Highly Effective Elementary School Teacher and a Highly Qualified Library Media Specialist, but the most rewarding part of my job is having former students contact me and tell me what a difference I made in their lives. That is truly the best part of teaching!

I attended Rhode Island College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in Elementary Education Grades 1-6. I then attended University of Rhode Island and graduated with honors with a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies.

I live in a small town with my loving husband, Justin, and our two dogs -Odin and Stella as well as our two cats -Freya and Ghost. I also have two amazing sons - my oldest, Dorian, is an x-ray welder for Electric Boat where he welds, inspects and trains others how to weld. My youngest, Draven, is an E5 Fire Controlman for U.S. Navy on The USS The Sullivans. I couldn't be a prouder Mama of my boys if I tried. My hobbies are riding my Harley Davidson, writing, playing the drums, woodworking, photography and now making creative products on TPT.
