This is the exam I give at the end of the semester for my Computer Applications class.
This is an activity I created myself that incorporates:
-a Letter in MS Word
- Spreadsheet in MS Excel
-Flyer in MS Publisher
-Presentation in MS Power point
The entire project has a common theme and can be adapted to fit the likes of your students!
After completing our unit on Power Point, Computer Applications jumps straight into Excel. I assign a big budget project where students take the starting salary of the Career he/she chose for the Power Point Presentation and create a real, "grown up" budget for themselves using the starting salary given to them.
Students are required to look up grown up "bills" and make choices for themselves and what they would like to spend money on.
For my Computer Applications class, after I have familiarized my students with Microsoft Word, I give them this little activity to help "test" their knowledge of basic functions in Microsoft Word such as changing font colors, sizes, aligning, etc.
This is the test I give my Computer Applications class after they have successfully mastered the creating and formatting a business letter and envelope. I give the basic letter contents but not the formatting.
I use this activity in my Computer Applications class as the first Business Letter students create on their own after we have created on as a class. I include the proper steps to go through when creating the proper business letter.
For my Game Creation class, I use www.scratch.mit.edu as a basic introduction into code, building blocks, creating games, etc. This is the first project I give in Scratch after we have discussed the basics of coding on the website.
For my Game Creation Class, I use this packet of 70+ Game related vocabulary words and short answer questions as a "mouse in my back pocket" when students do not stay on task.
It can be used as something built on all semester, reference material, etc.
Twenty words I use to introduce Excel to my Computer Applications students. The 1st page is the vocabulary filled in and the second page is blank copy for students to take notes with.
This is just a daily grade power point I use to introduce students to Power Point after we have gone over vocabulary, a "screen shot" and introduced basic concepts.

Teaching style
I am very student-centered. I believe student's should be in charge of their own learning and exploring when it comes to technology. I also assign a lot of projects that help expose them to the "real" world.
