About the store
I started my interest in education as a PreK teacher while taking classes in college. After graduating from University of Kentucky, I spent a semester substitute teaching in all grade levels and subject areas. My first year of teaching was in the 4th grade teaching all subject areas. Then I moved to the 5th grade and stayed there for 6 more years. I taught math and science most of the day to two different classes. During this time, I was heavily involved in unit development and curriculum planning and outlining for the school district. After having children, I went part time and worked as a computer lab teacher for grades 1-5. This experience has allowed me to incorporate technology into many of my lesson plans. I stayed at home with my young daughters for 5 years, which is why I started submitting units to Teachers Pay Teachers. I continued creating more lessons and projects to help others use strategies and activities that have proven to engage students and meet standards. In 2015, I went back to work as a part-time Gifted and Talented teacher for 4th and 5th grade students and really enjoyed finding ways to challenge my gifted students! I am hoping to add gifted and talented resources in the future. In 2016 my family moved to Chattanooga, TN and I will be the science lab teacher for a museum magnet school. I plan to create and add more science lessons with this new position.

Teaching style

I prefer learning to be hands-on and engaging for students. If they aren't interested, they will not pick up the content. I like for my lessons and units to include a variety of activities for different learning styles. My lessons for learning math incorporate literature, music, art, dance, kinesthetic activities, investigations, games, technology, learning centers and more.
