Teaching style

Dan-Dan Japanese units are based on generative topics which connect readily to what is FUN and familiar to students, support generalist subject areas and the ACARA Languages; Japanese framework. DDJ was created as I saw many 'random' activities/units implemented out there, and saw the need for scaffolded, aligned units that also supported what generalist teachers where doing. The culture of "Japanese" within your school can change, just by using DDJ! Each Belt unit is designed to be implemented over a term or a semester, depending on hours allocated per week. The units are teacher course book + student work book ALL-IN-ONE!

Additional biographical information

Dan-Dan means ‘gradually’ in Japanese. Learning another language takes time! The word Dan has another meaning. Have you ever heard of ‘Dans’ that you earn in Karate (Belts)? The Dan-Dan series works in the same sense, in that you earn ‘belts’. DDJ started a huge trend in 2007 with schools implementing 'belt' colours into their classrooms. DDJ is creating resources from White Belt [F] to Black Belt [Yr 12]. Learn more about our products, and our desire to help our fellow teachers and the students we teach by exploring the website www.dandanjapanese.com.au, our facebook page "Dan-Dan Japanese" and on Twitter @dan_danjapanese
