Students observe two glass jars placed under a heat lamp. One jar is full of sand and the other is filled with water. Students record the temperature of both jars over the course of sixteen minutes: 8 minutes with the heat lamp on, and 8 minutes with after the heat lamp has been turned off. Students will observe over the course of 16 minutes that "land" (simulated by the jar of sand) heats up and cools down faster than water.
Students match pictures with descriptions. For example, a picture of a solar panel matches with the description, "converts light energy into electrical energy." There are 24 picture/description pairs.

This is a kind of introduction-to-DBQ's. In a Google Form, students read short blocks of text, analyze pictures, and watch linked videos to answer multiple choice, short response, and long response questions.
Students cut-and-paste three objects and two descriptions (one qualitative, one quantitative) for each object. Also includes a definition for qualitative and quantitative observations.
