A 54321 Grounding Technique is a calming strategy used to support children who are feeling anxiety, are angry, or are overwhelmed. This technique incorporates deep breathing and uses the 5 senses to help the child to center themselves when they feel strong emotions. This is a wonderful tool to use with your class after reading the book "Kona & His Hard Shell" by Crissy Miyake!
Use a think dots template to encourage learner choice when designing activities and assignments. Consider integrating different multiple intelligences or approaches to learning in each think dots section. Have the learners roll a dice to choose their activity or product for an assignment. This also works well as a game board review activity at the end of a unit!
Use this Snack Shop activity as an introduction to basic economics and personal finance on inventory and taking customer orders or as a fun review activity for a math unit on money! This Snack Shop activity can also be used in special education as a job skills training activity.

Use this discussion protocol for learners to frame their responses to a text or a question by choosing either intrigue, encourage or inspire to begin their response with! Easily adaptable, but here is one example for using this protocol: "intrigue"- to be curious about, "encourage"- to feel lifted up, "inspire"- to feel urged to do.
