This lab guides students through a simulation to learn about the structure of series and parallel circuits. The lab then guides students through the wiring of a house and an understanding of why houses must be wired in parallel instead of series. This one period lab will help students create circuits without being bogged down with crossed wires and backwards batteries. Once students are comfortable with the simulations, they will be confident to make actual circuits and illuminate real lamps!

This slide deck is made to help you assess your students' ability to use a sorting chart. Having students sort manipulatives on a large sheet was a great way for students to work through the sorting chart but became difficult to assess to make sure everyone had an adequate understanding.
