I have worked in special education for the last 6 years. I started in Resource and have since put together two special day programs for the school district; K-2 and Pre-K. In addition, I have worked with students 1:1 with autism and have done in home intervention with students on the Autism Spectrum.
Prior to special education I substitute taught for several years in general education (grades K-12) so I could have flexibility while raising my own kids.

Back to School- Social Story
This is a cute little social story that I use for my students that have a hard time getting back into the swing of the new school year and need an added visual support. This can be copied on card stock and laminated and used with a erasable marker, it can be made into little social story books for individual students or it can be done as part of an activity at a center with the teacher or other staff. It supports the students that need a visual reminder and gives them a chance to read it over

Making the "Marriage" work (between Special Educators and General Educators)
This is a great reminder, refresher about making sure that special education teachers and general education teachers are coming together to support the students they service. Also attached are some basic forms that I have found useful to gather more information. I wish as a first year or new teacher, I had this information available.
