A game of creative reasoning! (From the book Games of Knowing) You can use logic puzzles to help foster lateral thinking in the classroom. Something as simple as a word riddle can provide an opportunity to think about Reason as a Way of Knowing for T.O.K. classes, or can be used in language arts classes for the plot twists, or science classes for a model of data analysis. Or of course just to have some fun while teasing your brain!

Keep the ball going; keep the numbers growing! This game requires just as much mental agility as it does physical. Passing a ball? Simple. Counting upwards from 1? Piece of cake. Experience

I'm an international school educator with over ten years of experience in teaching high school, including English, AP English Language, IB Language A: English Literature, IB English A: Language & Literature, IB Language B: English, Art, Film/Digital Imagery, IB Film, and Drama. My favorite course to teach, however, is Theory of Knowledge, and I've also been an IB examiner for the TOK Essay for several years.

Teaching style

I prefer project-based assessment, which has prompted me to create The Mock Trial, ShakespeareLand, the Corporation Project, TOK for Kids TV, and more. My use of games as object lessons prompted the Games of Knowing compilation of activities.

My own education history

A National Board Certified Teacher, I began outside the education field, as a graphic designer, illustrator, and filmmaker. I received my Education credentials from California State University Northridge, a Master of Education from Endicott College with a focus on International Education.
