I use this sight word packet to assess my students' sight word knowledge throughout the year, and to communicate with student families about words they need to practice.
I assess my students by having them read the sight words on the list about once per month. I place a mark in a different color each month next to every word the student does not know yet.
I then find the percentage of words the student knows, and we celebrate the growth that they made since their last sight word test!

Students can build their vocabulary by capturing words into a vocabulary journal using this vocabulary graphic organizer. Simply make copies, cut them in half, and students can paste or glue these organizers into an interactive vocabulary notebook. Students can visualize the word by drawing a picture, come up with synonyms and antonyms, and copy the definition.
