This is an adorable emergent reader that I designed to go along with my farm unit. It has repetative text, cute pictures (for picture/word correspondence) and large print for easy tracking and fluency. I have used it for both guided and shared reading. I love this independent reading packet that I have for my Kindergarten kiddos that are reading. These activities are meant the be used with my FREE emergent reader "On the Farm." Use the activities in your pocket chart for sequencing the characters in the story. Another option is to write the story on sentence strips and use the pictures to recreate the story for retelling. The second sheet is meant to be used for vocabulary development and picture/word matching. Make an additional copy of the cards for a quick game of concentration! Have fun!

This is a cute word wall that I made for my writing center. The writing center is a class favorite each year and I try to "mix it up" with thematic word walls that my kiddos can use during the time we are working on a particular theme. I use this entomology (study of insects and bugs) diary with my kids as part of our insect unit. It is a place to record their observations of an insect (we use butterflies)as it grows and changes.
