Students use the reading guide as they read the non-fiction book George Washington, Spymaster, by Thomas B. Allen. Eacher chapter identifies 4 academic and content vocabulary words that students need to infer their meaning based on how the word was used in the chapter. Students are also asked content questions about the reading for each chapter. Questions range from a DOK level 1 question to level 3.
Students use a letter from a soldier away at war, and a document analysis sheet to examine the letter for a deeper understanding of the life of a soldier during the war.
