Students will learn about Purim and through Art they will introspect and, in a meaningful way, understand the idea about disguising themselves to celebrate Purim and how people metaphorically wear masks to hide from others. They will use creative thinking and respond through creative writing and/or other suggested options.

This lesson/project has as a main objective to connect children and young adults with the reality of Holocaust survivors. It also encourages awareness of the events of World War II and teaches about the value of life.

This Lesson Plan aims to connect young children with the feelings of children during the Holocaust. It deals with how they were forced to wear a star to mark them as Jews and isolate them and also with moments in everyones life when we are forced to do things; that is when choices are not much of a choice.

This activity will make students reflect about the horrors of the Holocaust in the hope that it will not be repeated and that the lessons learned after this terrible part of history will never be forgotten. Through introspection and interaction students will understand and share their feelings about being labeled, marked and feeling segregated like all minorities suffered during the Holocaust.

Students will write words related to the story of the Megilah and the celebration of Purim and decorate a mask with all the words. It can be played as a game, a contest etc. The masks can be use for the Purim bulletin board or all around the classroom for this fun Jewish holiday.
