About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for 14 years. I taught 1st/2nd combo for a year, 3rd grade for one year, and the rest of my career has been teaching second grade.

Teaching style

I believe children learn by doing. We are usually doing something active in my classroom whether it be with manipulatives, games, body breaks, etc. It's important for children to use their new learning in many different ways. I like to integrate skills and learning throughout the content areas.

My own education history

I recently graduated with a Master's degree in Education for Literacy and Language Arts.

Additional biographical information

I am a mother of three, two girls (23 and 20), and a boy (17). Raising my own children has helped me to understand that children have different learning styles and needs in the classroom. I dedicated my Master's research project, about how to improve the learning and behavior of males, to my son and younger brother.
