Turn Token - visuals to help kids learn turn taking

These super simple printables are a lifesaver for those kiddos who just can’t wait to have their turn. The possibilities for these are endless: any type of game (waiting for turn to play), small and large group lesson (waiting to talk), at recess (waiting for the swings), at lunch (waiting in line). My students waited better with something to fidget with in their hands, so I would laminate (with 5mm laminating sheets) the tokens and let them hold and fidget with the token while they waited for t

Break cards are super simple, yet effective! Would you rather have your student ruining your entire session in class, constantly interrupting and distracting other students OR miss a few minutes of instruction to take a break and get caught up later on what they missed? As kids learn to regulate their emotions and actions it’s important to give them the appropriate tools to do so! How to use:.  Decide how many breaks you think your student will need. My advice is to err on the side of too many

About the store

Experience

My formal teaching experience lies in the area of special education life skills. I had the privilege of working with students on specific goals, all with the intent to help them become a more self-directed learner, communicator, and member of the community.

Teaching style

My teaching style is - do what works! I believe the best thing for students is to continually evaluate their learning and adjust your teaching based upon that data. Be goofy or serious, use visuals or sounds, whatever works for that student or group of students! Don't get me wrong, there is serious work to be done in order for learning to occur, but I've always tried to be prepared enough to have lots of flexibility!

Additional biographical information

I taught students in special education life skills classes for 3 years, 2 at the elementary level and 1 at the middle school level. For the past year I have been running an in-home daycare for the sweetest kiddos on earth! I absolutely love it and I continue to enjoy creating printables for them as I often used to for my students.
