I have a strong love for reading and highly value critical thinking. My lessons focus on analyzing text, drawing inferences, and understanding character development through the full spectrum of ELA standards without pulling the reader out of the story, but rather allowing them to grow deeper connections to what they read.
My background is in high school education, as well as teaching both 7th and 8th grade ELA. Currently, I partner with various multi-grade homeschool co-ops making novel based curriculum.

Movie Comparison Questionnaire
Students will answer 6 questions as they analyze a movie after reading the novel. Questions range in asking their options of the movie in regards to director choices, setting, music, and casting. These questions are universal and can work with any novel/ book combination.

US Government: Research Guide- My Senator
Students will use this chart to guide their research of their senator. They will begin by using the topic suggestion bank to choose an area of government importance, then students will research how the senator has acted in regards to that area (ie any bills they have written/ co-sponsored and how they have voted). Compare and Contrast Power Point
Introduction to compare and contrast concepts with key terms and scaffolding practice. Introduces a Venn Diagram, opportunity to compare and contrast based on photos of owners and their dogs, and then use a text to find comparisons. (I used as intro to Amigo Brothers, but will work for any compare and contrast unit).
