Experience

I am a secondary educator with experience teaching business, technology, social studies, and agricultural science. Over the years, I have developed lesson plans, projects, classroom materials, assessments, and standards-aligned resources for a variety of learners and course settings. My original background is corporate agribusiness. After 10 years of working in that world, I was looking for a change. My work in education has included both traditional academic subjects and career and technical education, and my background has given me a strong focus on practical, real-world learning. In addition to classroom teaching, I have experience with curriculum planning, project-based learning, and instructional support for students with a wide range of needs.

Teaching style

My teaching style emphasizes real-world relevance and practical experience that is clear, concise, and usable. I believe students do best when expectations are clear, directions are easy to follow, and assignments connect learning to useful skills. My goal is to create resources that are organized, practical, and flexible enough to work in real classrooms. Whether I am designing a worksheet, project, rubric, or full activity, I focus on making materials teacher-friendly and student-ready.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have developed project-based learning experiences in computing and technology, helped bring more than $20,000 in vocational equipment into the classroom through Perkins grant work, and contributed to degree and program development at the post secondary level in an effort to connect classroom learning to future career pathways. I have also served in leadership and support roles, including department-level collaboration and participation in administrator development work.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) in Agriculture Economics, a Master of Science in Education (MSE) in Educational Leadership/Principalship, and I am currently completing a Master of Science (MSc) in Geographic Information Science. I also hold Arkansas educator licensure and certifications in Business Education, Agricultural Science and Technology, Social Studies, and Building Administration.

Additional biographical information

My background includes education, training, business operations, and technical organization, so I tend to design materials that are structured, practical, and easy to implement. My goal is always to make resources that save teachers time and support real classroom needs. My wife of 20 years, Jennifer, is also an educator, serving as assistant principal of student services/curriculum for an elementary school. We have one daughter, Morgan, who is a sophomore in high school. I hold a private pilot's license and a general amateur radio license. I enjoy working reading, playing video games, working with electronics, spending time with family, and engaging in anything technical to keep my mind sharp.
