My name is Lindsey Gatlin, and in the classroom, I go by Ms. G or Teacher Lou. I was a substitute teacher and tutor throughout my graduate program and found my love for the profession. I have been a tutor for over ten years and was a substitute teacher in the local high school district for three years. After graduate school and my substitute experience, I moved to Madrid, Spain where I earned my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate. I lived and taught there for two years teaching college preparation exams such as the SAT, GRE, and GMAT. At the academy I taught, I became a Director and supervised the creation of materials used in our courses. I also gained valuable insight into different cultures and have taught and learned from students from almost every continent. Currently, I work with students individually as the Head Instructor at Delta Learning Space. I hope that I can help provide students and teachers the resources and confidence to succeed!

Teaching style

As a student, I never found myself to be the student who inherently understood the material and throughout my education, I had to find ways to make myself understand the content. During my time as a teacher in the classroom, I found that I could connect with students because I knew exactly what they were feeling. My teaching style is focused on building rapport with students and helping build their confidence in subjects such as math and science. I emphasize problem-solving abilities and using the method to solve as a learning tool for students.

My own education history

I have a B.S. in Marine Science with a minor in General Biology from CSU Monterey Bay and a graduate certificate from the University of Southern California in Geographic Information Systems and Technology (GIST). I have a TEFL certificate and have taken training courses related to teaching students with dyslexia.
