This Map Quiz includes multiple versions of both the practice sheets and the map quiz. All versions ask students to name the 50 states. Options are as follows:  Option 1:This option includes a map and a key of state names on one sheet. It also asks students to label Washington, D.C. This includes several different timelines: two timelines that stretch from 1865-1877 to be printed on 11"x17" paper, and two timelines each from 1865-1870 and 1870-1877 to be printed on 8.5"x11" paper. There are two versions of each timeline because one is more simplified than the other to account for varying reading levels and needs. While teaching my 8th graders Reconstruction, it occurred to me that many of them didn't know the basic geography of the United States, and they certainly didn't know which states succeeded during the Civil War. I made this map quiz to ensure they had the background knowledge they need to succeed in units on the Civil War and on Reconstruction.
