This activity provides students the opportunity to analyze a catchphrase or slogan of a company. They convert the catchphrase into a conditional statement and use that to determine the converse, inverse, and contrapositive statement. The presentation at the end is an analysis of the validity of each of those statements.

SSS, SAS, SSA. They mean absolutely nothing to my students. So instead of wasting a month on this unit, I condensed it into this activity which allows students to physically manipulate objects and discover which shortcut theorems can be used to show that two triangles are congruent. It is tough to implement at first, but it has done wonders for my students once they get the hang of it. We constantly refer back to this experiment whenever we are proving things in later units.

Need something to kick off the school year? This activity is an "escape the room" that serves as a pretest so that you can gauge your algebra 2/geometry students' prior knowledge. This activity usually spans 2-3 class periods. At the end of the activity, the students get a passcode which I used to let them unlock my cell phone which has a message displayed that tells them the location of their prize.

This standard is a tough one to cover, so I built this activity to help lead my students through it. I split up the class into groups of threes and have them work through it at a whiteboard. I roam the room and listen to their discussions and try to help only if there is no activity within the group. If you are interested in a thinking classroom, this is an easy one to try.

In this activity, students must match slopes, slope between points, linear functions, and graphs of lines with each other so that they match. It is a great way for students to practice translating between all of these different representations of slope.

After my students learn how to do some of the basic constructions, I have them work through this gallery walk in pairs. They have to use a compass and straightedge and show me their results in their notebook.

A great way to have students interact with one another on geometric definitions. The cards print double sided, but the back side is NOT the correct definition. Instead, the student has to find the person that has their definition/term on their card. Great day 2 activity!
