A fun, trendy activity for middle schoolers (or upper elementary) that uses their computers. A good filler activity after a concert/test, just before, or when you have a sub. Students create collages based on their favorite 'aesthetic' from a list then use that idea to think about their concert repertoire. Could be changed to the 'aesthetic' of a book too for ELA. Or even personifying a chemical element.
I have a group of musicians that struggle to understand WHY we sing in parts in chorus. I decided I needed to create something tangible for them to show their understanding on. Here is a worksheet, questions and answer key you can use for a sub or in your class about the importance of sticking to a part on a song. It doesn't mean once they are an alto, they are only an alto - just no part bouncing mid song and WHY we need those harmonies, and why they are sometimes hard to stick with.
A Canva based (could be converted to another platform) video assessment. You could use this for any course wanting to capture a video or sound file from students, for example: Read AloudsWorld LanguageMusicThis download includes PDF and digital instructions for the teacher and students. Simple worksheets for explanation and practice of accidentals on the piano using Cbat and Slim Shady as examples. I used these with my sub and was pleasantly surprised that the students understood accidentals when I came back. They enjoyed playing Slim Shady and Cbat since they knew them from TikTok. They aren't labelled on the page so they are 'mystery' tunes.
A set of three printable worksheets for you to use in your classroom keyboard unit. It has two popular songs as examples: Sunroof and His Name Is both from TikTok. These sheets work both treble notes, key identification and putting the two together. I specifically chose songs that are more familiar to avoid rhythm work with these worksheets. I used these for sub plans and was very happy that the kids did them and I came back from being sick with them not loosing ground.
