Math Problem Solving Rubric

This is a student friendly, self-assessment rubric! My 4th grades enjoyed using these rubrics during problem solving activities. I would often combine their assessment with my assessment for a grade! :) I didn't use these every time we did problem solving, but at least once a week. It's also a good idea to keep a large version on the wall for the students to reference.

Clip Chart- How will you go home today?

Print on cardstock - add a cute ribbon to attach it all together - then make clips for each kid! What a great way to know how your students are going home each day - I love the visual aspect of it as well. No more panic at the end of the day! And other teachers can come into your room to check in case you are out that day.

How do you go home?

Before school starts, parents/students come by the school to drop supplies off and meet their teachers. I usually ask parents to fill this form and my student profile page out before they leave (otherwise, I may never see them again)! I find this page very useful, especially for the first day of school! The second page is editable, so you can edit the ways of transportation!

This is a quick printable to help students review when to drop the e and double the consonant in words. Visually appeasing to younger students.

Mother's Day Handprint Poem

This is an all time favorite of mine! All you need to do is add a child's handprint to the bottom of the page. This makes a perfect Mother's Day gift or end of year gift (I can edit the document if needed). If you would prefer different colors, that is a possibility - depending on the difficulty it may cost an extra buck or two. This gift is priceless to mothers!

Teaching style

I believe kids learn best through experience and from one another. I guide instruction and provide the best experiences possible in order for my students to learn. My classroom is student centered and student led. I believe problem solving is a skill our students are lacking in, so we do a lot of practice in this area - almost always with a partner - their communication is key!!
