While learning about text features, the best way for students to seek and identify text features is by exploring non-fiction themselves! Students loved searching for these text features independently while using this graphic organizer!

In first grade while learning about thermometers, we always perform the experiment of students tracking their own body temperature (by holding the thermometer in their hand) and then the temperature of their hand after holding an ice cube. This worksheet is a great way for students to 1) track their date, 2) practice filling in a thermometer, and 3) making predictions as scientists!
